Tom
Tom D. Walsh founded Cityhouse in mid-2007 to work on sustainable and affordable housing. He has worked in construction for about 20 years, previously with his father, Tom Walsh, and brother, Ben Walsh, at a family-owned company: Tom Walsh & Co.
Serena
Serena Cruz Walsh is a co-founder of the Cityhouse Companies with her husband Tom D. Walsh. Prior to launching the Cityhouse Companies, Serena was elected to serve as a Multnomah County Commissioner for 2 consecutive 4-year terms. She serves on the Regional Steering Committee for Bridges to Housing (supportive housing for homeless families), the Library Stable Funding Task Force, the Board of Alumni of Lewis & Clark College, and the Cesar E. Chavez Boulevard steering committee.
Dennis
Our construction superintendent, Dennis Harris, began his career in construction as a union carpenter. He has twenty years of construction experience on projects ranging from small remodels to large commercial jobs. Dennis is an active member of NE Portland’s Boise Neighborhood Association.
Morgan
Our project assistant, Morgan Matthews, enjoys combining the policy world with construction science to help create green, affordable homes. Morgan graduated from Lewis & Clark College with a bachelor’s degree in Economics and recently completed Earth Advantage’s first Sustainable Homes Professional program. She pursued her interest in public policy working both as a Staff Associate in Portland City Commissioner Sam Adams’ office and as a Visiting Scholar at Reed College.
Wilberth
Our head laborer, Wilberth Berman, has been in construction for eight years. He started out as a welder, and then tried his hand at remodeling. Wilberth moved to the Portland area from Mexico in 1997, and enjoys working on our small team alongside Dennis.
